The 6 Best Movie Performances By Wrestlers Turned Actors

Tor Johnson in PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE
Old school wrestler Tor Johnson in PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE showed true range. He went from playing a stiff, lifeless cop to playing a stiff, lifeless cop in bad zombie make-up.

The common opinion on professional wrestling is that it is just a soap opera for the male population. And the performers in this “sport” all are called upon to act out some truly ludicrous story lines in front of live crowds week in and week out. So it is kinda shocking that so many wrestlers end up being so bad when they are put in an actual film role. John Cena and HHH may be able to captivate a crowd with their performance in the squared circle but neither guy can act their way out of a soggy paper bag. But there are a few rasslers who have proven to have “The Stuff” when it comes to acting outside of the ring and I have decide to list my top 6 sports entertainers who made the transition to the big screen successfully.

Cover Me Monday: California Dreamin’

I’m a bit bummed by the news that soul legend Bobby Womack has been diagnosed with colon cancer. Womack is the definition of soul and never has been given the deserved amount of kudos that I have always felt he earned through the half-century that he has been making kick ass R&B music. So in honor of Bobby and to send out good vibes towards him during his fight against cancer I decided to feature his raw and powerful cover of The Mamas & the Papas classic “California Dreaming”. Bobby Womack – California Dreamin’ Continue reading Cover Me Monday: California Dreamin’

Trailer of the Day: The Divide

In this graphic and violent, post-apocalyptic thriller, nine strangers-all tenants of a New York high rise apartment—-escape a nuclear attack by hiding out in the building’s bunker-like basement. Trapped for days underground with no hope for rescue, and only unspeakable horrors awaiting them on the other side of the bunker door, the group begins to descend into madness, each turning on one another with physical and psycho-sexual torment. As supplies dwindle, and tensions flare, and they grow increasingly unhinged by their close quarters and hopelessness, each act against one another becomes more depraved than the next. While everyone in the bunker allows themselves to be overcome by desperation and lose their humanity, one survivor holds onto a thin chance for escape even with no promise of salvation on the outside. – Trailer Addict

Prometheus Is The Movie I Most Want To See This Year

I have no clue what it is about exactly…is it a prequel to the Alien movies? Is it going to be totally unconnected from the alien franchise? Will it explain who or what that giant astronaut was at the beginning of the original Alien? I don’t know and really don’t care because I have never been this excited for a movie that is a total mystery to me as far as plot goes.
