Game of Thrones Season 4 Scene of the Week: Spoiler Alert! Spoiler Alert!

got-spoilers
To spare any stragglers being spoiled who have yet to see last night’s episode of GAME OF THRONES (and why the heck haven’t you watched it yet?) I will restrict all comments on my favorite scene of the second episode of this season, The Lion And The Rose, for after the jump.

Game of Thrones Season 4 Scene of the Week: Arya Crosses A Name Off Her List

Arya-Stark

“I see a darkness in you. And in that darkness, eyes starring back at me. Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. Eyes you will shut forever.”

Those were the words that “The Red Woman” spoke to Arya in their meeting last season and it looks like her darkly ominous reading is coming true because Arya got to scracth a name off of her revenge list in the season premier of GAME OF THRONE’s fourth season and she did it in a decidedly cold and calculated manner.

Ever wonder what GAME OF THRONE’s Kal Drogo would look like as a Dark Side Jedi? Well wonder no more!

What The What? Game of Thrones Recasts Daario Naharis!

got-naharis-skrein
For some reason the folks over at HBO’s GAME OF THRONES has seen fit to recast the role of roguish mercenary Daario Naharis. Out is Ed Skrein and in his place for Season 4 is going to be Michiel Huisman (TREME and NASHVILLE). The big mystery is just why Skrein was dropped.

My Five Favorite HBO Series

As I was coming up with my list of favorite HBO series I gave some thought to how there has always been a lot of discussion about the impact of THE SOPRANOS and just what an amazing show it is with some people declaring it the best TV show ever. This got me to thinking about how I am not one of those people who hold THE SOPRANOS at such a lofty position. Sure I recognize it’s importance in shaping the landscape of dramatic television but I honestly think that, as a show, THE SOPRANOS really wasn’t that great. To me the show was incredibly average in terms of storytelling but overcame all of that with great casting and acting. I defy anyone to point to one major storyline in the entire run of the show past Season 1 or 2 that was really all that amazing. Instead The SOPRANOS was wonderful at individual scenes featuring great acting performances that are very memorable but not in story arcs that elicit the same fond memories.

Jon Snow Knows Nothing, That Is Why He Needs A Montage

jonknowsnada
Not knowing is a trait Jon Snow has been tagged with by his lady love Ygritte on GAME OF THRONES and what better way to become knowledgeable than with an 80’s style musical montage especially when that musical montage is from the awesome BMX movie RAD.

Aint No Party Like A Hodor Party Cause A Hodor Party Don’t Hodor!

Of all the cast members of HBO’s GAME OF THRONES the last one I would have pegged as being a DJ would be Hodor (Kristian Nairn in real life). But apparently he is not only a DJ in his home country of Ireland but a local DJing legend there to boot! If that don’t Hodor the Hodor I’ll be Hodor. Hodor. It’s A Nice Day For A Red Wedding

redwedding
Even knowing what was going to happen didn’t prepare me for what I watched in Episode 09 of GAME OF THRONES. The Red Wedding finally took place and House Stark took yet another massive loss that was right up there with Ned getting his body separated from his head. And what happened to Talisa was just brutal. They even did poor Grey Wind dirty!!!

Tywin Lannister Knows Best

My children. You've disgraced the Lannister name for far too long
My children. You’ve disgraced the Lannister name for far too long

There are stern fathers and then there are cold, authoritarian, self-esteem crushing fathers like one Lord Tywin Lannister from GAME OF THRONES. The patriarch of the Lannister clan is the anti-Cliff Huxtable. He rarely has a kind word for any of his kids and on the off chance that he does compliment them it is usually immediately followed by him cutting them down especially poor Tyrion who he routinely refers to as a “stump”. So in honor of the Westeros Father of the Year I put together a video of all of Tywin’s interactions with his 3 children so you too can marvel at the world class acting of Charles Dance in the role that I don’t think anyone could possibly play better..
