NBC: A TO Z

Synopsis: “A to Z” tells the story of Andrew (Ben Feldman, “Mad Men,” “The Mindy Project”) and Zelda (Cristin Milioti, “The Wolf of Wall Street,” “How I Met Your Mother”) – a pair that almost wasn’t – and all that happened from the day they met.

Why Is It Doomed?
I had another toss-up here because NBC is just a font of terrible shows that look to be on a collision course with the Grim Reaper from THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA (a show whose awfulness I talked about HERE), BAD JUDGE, STATE OF AFFAIRS (does anyone like Katherine Heigl? And if there are a few out there do they like her enough to watch her on TV every week?) and MARRY ME to name a few. But the worst of the lot and the most likely to die a quick death is A TO Z. I tried to watch the pilot for this romantic comedy and made it to just past the “meet cute” of the two lead characters before having to stop watching or vomit from all the treacly sweet quirkiness. Check it out for yourselves if you are feeling masochistic. But just being a shitty show isn’t the only reason why this show is doomed. Going up against the pop cultural juggernaut that is SCANDAL as well as CBS’s THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL is why I have this show marked for death.
