Prometheus Is The Movie I Most Want To See This Year

I have no clue what it is about exactly…is it a prequel to the Alien movies? Is it going to be totally unconnected from the alien franchise? Will it explain who or what that giant astronaut was at the beginning of the original Alien? I don’t know and really don’t care because I have never been this excited for a movie that is a total mystery to me as far as plot goes.

The Walking Dead: 18 Miles Out Review

“18 Miles Out” can be described as a tale of two plots. One plot is action-packed and riveting while he other is dull and harkens back to the not so halcyon days of lounging around Herschel’s fair navel gazing with intermediate forays into the woods to search for Sophia…all the things about the first half of this season that made the viewer want to change the channel. Plot A focuses on Rick and Shane as they attempt to drop off Randall (the guy who got impaled on the fence last week) somewhere that he can have a chance to survive but not close enough that he can make his way back to the farm. Plot B focuses on Beth (who is no longer catatonic but still has the personality of doorknob) and the other women of the group except for Carol and Mrs Otis.

Cover Me Monday: Seven Nation Army

This week’s cover is the Ben l’Oncle Soul version of The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army“. The l’Oncle Soul version takes the well recognized and imposing guitar riff of the original and turns it into a groovy 1960s inspired soul/pop tune. It’s such a good take on the original that it has been copied almost note for note (extraneous runs included) by X-FACTOR UK runner up Marcus Collins. Check the Collins version out because the musical plagiarism is so shameless that it’s funny. Continue reading Cover Me Monday: Seven Nation Army

Oscar Predictions & Ruminations

The biggest night of the year for the movie industry is this Sunday and the civilized world is all a titter wondering who will win the Best Picture…the silent movie that no one saw or the overrated movie that George Clooney was in? Speaking of Clooney will he take home the Best Actor trophy or will Brad Pitt finally be recognized as a real actor by his peers? And will the two men remain BFF’s when it is all over? And most important of all who will win the Best Actress throw down? Will Glenn Close finally win an Oscar? Can Meryl Streep’s great performance overcome the crappy movie she was in? Or will Viola Davis continue the long tradition of the Academy recognizing black people only when they play one five types of roles…the crook, the ho, the clown, the crackhead, or the help? How the hell should I know? And why am I asking all of these rhetorical questions?
Well like 99.9% of the rest of the bloggers on the Intertubes, I may not have any inside knowledge on the Oscar races this year but I do feel an uncontrollable need to share my own opinions and prognostication skills with the World Wide Web. So to find out what a humble citizen of this Earth with too much free time on his hands and a love of cinema thinks will and should happen at the Oscars just click the linky-dink below this sentence.
