Game of Thrones Scene of the Week: Winter Is Finally Here

One of the tag lines for this season of Game of Thrones was “Winter is Coming” and since I am obsessed with the whole White Walker thing I was very eagerly awaiting more scenes of GoT’s version of zombies. Alas the season was very light on the zombies despite a lot of time being spent beyond the wall. That is until the last few minutes of the second season finale where a horde of White Walkers led by a totally bad ass White Walker Warrior on a zombie horse showed up.

Game of Thrones Scene of the Week: One More Drink Before The War

Despite the selling point of this episode being the Battle of Blackwater (and there was an awful lot to like about that battle especially Tyrion proving himself a leader of men) but my favorite scene of the episode was the face off between the enforcers for the The King and The Hand.

Game of Thrones Scene of the Week: A Girl Lacks Honor

Arya racks up a back-to-back appearance with her scenes with Jaqen H’ghar. Arya outmaneuvered the deadly assassin by giving him his own name as the third name on her list of people he has to kill in order to get Jaqen to help her and her friends escape Harrenhal.

Game of Thrones Scene of the Week: Little Orphan Arya

“A Man Without Honor” was a bit heavier on dialog than action and the best scene for me was the further adventures of Little Orphan Arya and her ward Daddy Lannister. Tywin Lannister is surrounded by generals yet he can only have deep, meaningful conversations with a tweenage girl he has just met. That this man of great intellect and power is surrounded by so many idiots has been shown in previous episodes and this exchange was just extra fun. The two characters went back and forth with Tywin making it known that he is aware when Arya is lying … Continue reading Game of Thrones Scene of the Week: Little Orphan Arya

Game of Thrones Scene of the Week: Whoop That Trick

Tyrion slapping Joffrey

This week’s scene of the week was too easy to pick…nothing is better than watching that little putz Joffrey get abused and this scene was especially satisfying because he got both humiliated and put in his place in quick succession.

Game of Thrones Scene of the Week: Shadow Dancing

Poor Renly

There were a lot of scenes that could have qualified for scene of the week from ‘The Ghost of Harrenhal’…Tyrion’s continued tormenting of his cousin Lancel and working to diffuse his sister’s plot (or was it a scheme?) to use wildfire against Stannis’ armies; Dany’s adventures in Qarth; Stannis and the Onion Knight’s deeply honest conversation about Melisandre; or Arya’s continuing story (which had the line of the week uttered by such a cute little girl, “Anyone can be killed”) that saw her going into a partnership of sorts with Jaqen H’ghar that bore immediate fruit while having more than a little To Catch a Predator vibe going on as far as I was concerned.

But the scene that stood out the most for me happened at the beginning of the episode.

Game of Thrones Scene of the Week: Baby Mama Drama

After rutting around like pigs on his enlarged Stratego game board, Stannis and Melisandre’s love child has decided it’s time for him (or her) to make an appearance. And what an appearance it was! Stannis ordered Davod to ferry Melisandre to some caves for an untold reason which annoyed the Onion Knight to no end considering he is not the Red Woman’s biggest fan. But Davos got a lot more than he was expecting when Mel dropped trou, got into birthing position and delivered her shadow baby. This thing was really creepy too…it crawled out of her cookie full grown! I guess every party of Melisandre is magic, even her hoo-hoo.

On the one hand I am psyched at even more magic happenings popping up on the show but on the other hand, this turn of events doesn’t have me feeling too good about Renly’s future.

Game of Thrones Scene of the Week: Down Goes Yoren

Poor, Yoren…he puts himself out there to protect a couple of wayward children of dead men (in Gendry and Arya) and what does he get for his troubles? Shot with a crossbow and skewered by a broad sword. It doesn’t pay to be nice in Westeros. I’m gonna miss the crusty old soldier. he was good for some seriously funny lines and how he dealt with everyone in the same gruff manner was always something I looked forward to on GoT.

Game of Thrones Scene of the Week: When The Kingslayer Meets Grey Wind

Jaime Lannister is a cocky bastard. He’s handsome, filthy rich, one of the best swordsman in all of Westeros and could have his pick of pretty much any woman in all the lands (so of course he chooses his twin sister…gross!). So even while chained up as a prisoner of Robb Stark, Jaime still treats Robb like he is a little boy playing at being a leader. That bravado took a hit though once Robb brought in his dire wolf Grey Wind to spend some quality time with The Kingslayer
