So This Is Where Oxygen Draws The Line of Bad Taste?

ambm
The (much anticipated by me at least) reality show “All My Babies Mamas“, which would have featured Atlanta based rapper Shawty Lo and his plethora of babies and their respective mamas, has been pre-emptively canceled by the Oxygen network due to outcries from pretty much everyone who bore witness to its’ (awesome) sizzle reel trailer. I am a bit perturbed for a few reasons…namely because this looked like the trainwreck of all trainwrecks and I was planning to enjoy every second of it and also because the Oxygen network’s biggest claim to fame is a little show called “The Bad Girls Club” which is quite possibly the most disgusting reality show to ever be televised.

So Lena Dunham Is The New Millenium Pia Zadora, Right?

Someone (HBO, Judd Apatow, her dad) bought that Golden Globe win for Ms Dunham just like Pia Zadora’s hubby did for her because that can be the only explanation for how she won. Let the wondrous Wikipedia explain it to ya: In 1981, Pia Zadora won a Golden Globe in the category “Newcomer-of-the-Year” for her performance in Butterfly, over such competition as Elizabeth McGovern (Ragtime) and Kathleen Turner (Body Heat). Accusations were made that the Foreign Press Association members had been bought off. Zadora’s husband, multimillionaire Meshulam Riklis, flew voting members to his casino, the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, … Continue reading So Lena Dunham Is The New Millenium Pia Zadora, Right?

The Most Bizarrely Wonderful Moment From This Season of American Horror Story

ahs1
Jessica Lange’s Sister Jude putting on her best Dusty Springfield impression to sing a rousing rendition of “The Name Game” complete with a fully choreographed dance routine featuring a bunch of mental patients had to be the best thing to appear on TV so far in this new year and was hands down the best moment from this (really cool) season of American Horror Story.

How Far Must Your Star Have Fallen To Appear On A Celebrity Diving Show?

diviing
That is the question I keep asking myself about the cast of characters who agreed to appear in Stars In Danger: The High Dive on Fox. The cast includes: J-Wow (Jersey Shore), Kim Richards and Kyle Richards (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), former NFL star Terrell Owens, David Chokachi (Baywatch), Antonio Sabato Jr. (General Hospital), Pro surfer Bethany Hamilton, and Alexandra Paul (Baywatch).

The Daily Nerdgasm: Troy & Abed in Engineering!

Mixing Troy and Abed from Community with Data and Geordie from Star Trek: The Next Generation is about as right a mash-up as chocolate and peanut butter. And the fine folks over at the Tumblr blog Troy and Abed in Engineering have a field day amalgamating the two sets of Tv show bros to make a pretty funny little spot on the Intranetz. Plus they get extra points for making Worf be Senor Chang. Continue reading The Daily Nerdgasm: Troy & Abed in Engineering!

Will We Get All 11 Doctors Together For The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special?

This bit of news/rumor came from the Blogtor Who blog and was immediately taken down which tends to lend more credence to it being true than not. I’m sure some inventive effects will be used to deal with the fact that some of the actors who portrayed The Doctor over the years have passed on and then some wibbly wobbly timey-wimey stuff will need to be done to explain how all of the Doctors can be in the same place at the same time. But if all of the living actors will indeed be gathered together then I will be a truly happy … Continue reading Will We Get All 11 Doctors Together For The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special?

There Can Be Only One…The Racial Quickening of The Walking Dead

Highlander-Movie

For centuries we have waited for the time of the Gathering, when the stroke of a sword and the fall of a head will release the power of the Quickening. In the end, there can be only one.

– Duncan MacLeod of The Clan MacLeod

Tyreese is finally coming to The Walking Dead! The biggest gripe I have had with The Walking Dead TV show was that they didn’t include the fan-favorite character of Tyreese on the show. My annoyance was compounded by the fact that the new character of T-Dog was created for no good reason at all instead of just having what was one of the best characters from the comic on the show. So when I heard the rumors that the Tyreese character was being cast I was ecstatic and then when I read that the character had been cast with Chad Coleman (a favorite of mine from his time on The Wire) filling the role I was giddy with excitement. So seeing the promo that introduces the character (after the jump) just makes me even more psyched for this Sunday’s fall finale than I already was but spoilers have me feeling a bit of trepidation at the same time.

Oodles of Doctor Who Goodness

The annual Doctor Who Christmas Special will be here before you know it and the fine folks at BBC (during the Children in Need charity special) have been kind enough to not only deliver some stills from the special but also the prequel minisode (featuring a trio of my favorite Who supporting characters) and the full trailer for the special.

Stopping The Signal…Why I’m Glad Firefly Was Canceled When It Was

OK, let’s get one thing out of the way up front…I am a huge Firefly fan. I was eager for it to premiere when news of a Joss Whedon space western show was first released to the public; I watched every episode religiously during its short lifespan as a TV series; I ran out and bought the DVD on the day it was released; I was first in line to see the Serenity movie. I consider it to be the best thing Joss Whedon has ever done (even better than Buffy The Vampire Slayer).
That being said, I am very happy that the show died when it did.

Obama and Romney Are The Secret Lizard Beast That Sits On Two Thrones

Inspired by the classic Schoolhouse Rock segments that used to run during Saturday morning cartoons, this Election Rocks video from Animation Domination (that exposes the hidden truth of the US election system) just warms the cockles of my nostalgia loving heart.
