The Daily Nerdgasm: Space Stallions – I Would Have Watched The Hell Out Of This Show In The 80s

Space Stallions
The fine folks at The Animation Workshop must love those 1980s cartoons (that seemed to be created solely for the purpose of selling action figures) as much as I do. While my shameless devotion is put on display by non-ironic t-shirts and a nifty DVD collection…the students at The Animation Workshop were proactive and created their own addition to the pantheon of He-Man, Thundercats and Silverhawks in the form of the Space Stallions!

The Wayback Machine: Get On the Floor

Wayback Machine
“Get On The Floor” is a song from Michael Jackson’s OFF THE WALL album. A Michael Jackson Song!?!? How can an MJ song be in need of recognition? He’s the King of Pop and whatnot! What’s the dilly, yo?
Well all will be explained, my friends.
Sherman, set the Wayback Machine to 1979!

Shuffling On My iPod: Maximum Balloon

Producer turned artist David Sitek (from TV On The Radio fame) is the mind behind Maximum Balloon. Sitek teams up with Dragons of Zynth frontman Aku to give the world this electro-tinged dance track. My first time hearing this song was in a “Women We Love” video from Esquire UK that featured the ever so lovely Daisy Lowe. I recommend watching it…it’s quite the stimulating video. Maximum Balloon feat. Aku – Tiger Continue reading Shuffling On My iPod: Maximum Balloon

Trailer of The Day: The Raid

The Raid

In the heart of Jakarta lies a rundown apartment infested with druggies and drifters. It’s ruled by a ruthless drug lord who uses the tenement to shelter his junkie customers, pushers, enforcers and brutal killers. The apartment block is considered untouchable by even the bravest of police – until one early morning when, cloaked under dawn’s darkness – an elite SWAT team, led by officer Rama (Uwais), raids the peril-filled structure. As Rama’s squad races between the maze of rooms and floors, encountering a barrage of gunfire, machetes, and ruthless hand-to-hand combat around every corner, the stakes get higher and higher building to an explosive crescendo and an ultimate battle. – Collider

Cover Me Monday: Iron Man

The Cardigans‘ cover of Black Sabbath‘s “Iron Man” is another example of what I truly love about cover songs…when the artist doing the covering transforms the song to the point that it is not even recognizable or has been changed around to fit an entirely different musical genre. In the case of this version of “Iron Man” The Cardigans do their very best Portishead impression to make the dark rock anthem something a bit less heavy and foreboding but still cool. The Cardigans – Iron Man Continue reading Cover Me Monday: Iron Man
