There is a lot not to like about the 2009 FRIDAY THE 13TH reboot, it was awfully written (by a cadre of writers no less) and mundanely directed and had the unmitigated gall to actually have Jason Voorhees running. Running I say!!! Jason doesn’t run; he walks at a brisk pace but that is about it. But those are not even the things that I am most bothered by. So with that in mind I present to the world on this Friday the 13 of May in the year of our Lord 2016 my top 6 reasons for why the FRIDAY THE 13TH Reboot sucked.
They Crammed The Original Friday the 13th Film Into the Opening Credits
I think this re-imagining of the original FRIDAY THE 13TH that ran through the opening credits was my favorite part of the movie. It was shot in a moody black and white, Nana Visitor was a delightfully demented Pamela Voorhees and even in the brief time she was on-screen she showed a lot of pathos and tragedy in the character right up to the point where she got her head cut off. So why is this scene something I consider a reason why the movie sucked? Because this barely 2 minutes of the movie made the other 95 minutes pale in comparison. New Line Cinema would have probably been better off just doing a true remake of the original FRIDAY and saved Jason for the sequel.
