The Worst Looking New Fall TV Shows

worst-new-fall-tv-shows
Last month the TV networks debuted their new offerings for the fall season and while some shows look very promising like The Flash, Constantine, Grace Point (the US adaptation of Broadchurch) and The Whispers; other shows look downright abysmal. So with that in mind I have picked the worst of the bunch as a public service to help innocent TV viewers avoid the awful.

Michiel Huisman Is Determined To Ruin TV For Me

Have you ever been watching a TV show that you really liked yet there was just one character that you really hated with a passion played by an actor who just annoyed you completely and you wished he were not a part of the show? Well imagine if that actor were to bring the same acting style you absolutely loathe to show after show that you enjoy? Would you feel like there was a conspiracy going on to ruin TV for you specifically? Well, if so you would be a paranoid nutcase but never let it be said that I considered myself to be 100% sane because I think Michiel Huisman is out to destroy my enjoyment of TV by constantly popping up on shows I like.

Where Is The Cast of Farscape Now?

A few weeks ago there was news of a possible continuation of the great SyFy series FARSCAPE being in the works that would deal with the, now 19 year-old, child of Capt. John Crichton and Aeryn Sun becoming the target of evil aliens which would require the old Moya gang to get back together to protect the kid. With that little carrot of a plot being dangled before me I got to thinking about just what the cast of the old show have been up to since it was ended. So with the help of a little Google-Fu I put together this list that answers the question: Where is the cast of FARSCAPE now?

My 2014 Oscar Nominations Snubs

Let me preface this list by saying that The Academy got a lot right with their nominations this year and I understand how tough it was because this was a particularly good year in film with some amazing movies and even more amazing performances being delivered to theaters in 2013. However that does not mean that The Academy is immune from criticism or that this humble blogger does not think he knows better than people who work in the industry when it comes to picking who should be in the running to get a shiny gold naked man statue. So … Continue reading My 2014 Oscar Nominations Snubs

Will The Man of Steel Sequel Have a Black Lex Luthor?

Lex-Luthor
There is a rumor floating around that Warner brothers has opened up the casting call for Lex Luthor in the Batman vs Superman/Man of Steel sequel movie to include black actors. This would be a huge casting move, though not unprecedented in the annals of comic book movies with characters like Nick fury and The Kingpin being changed from white to black in the transfer from page to screen. Those characters are not as iconic as Lex Luthor though. The casting of a black actor in the role would be huge and cause all sorts of attention for a film that is already hitting massive levels of media attention with every rumor and scrap of news that comes out.
So with the idea of black actors being bandied about for the role I decided to put together my list of four actors that could play a pretty spiffy Lex Luthor.

Ben Affleck Is The New Batman. Not That There’s Anything Wrong With That

So Warner brothers has announced that actor/director/screenwriter/husband of Jennifer Garner/BFF of Matt Damon, Ben Affleck has been cast as the new Batman who will be facing off with Superman in the upcoming MAN OF STEEL sequel. And like any other announcement steeped in geekiness, it has caused the collective Internets to shit themselves in fits of over-exaggerated apoplexy. Twitter is on fire, the message boards are exploding, Facebook is melting, petitions are being started (with over 20, 000 signatures…nerds I am so ashamed of you!), all due to Mr. Affleck being named as the new Dark Knight.
Well I will give four reasons why Affleck’s casting is not the worst thing since GIGLI was foisted upon an unsuspecting populace.

My Five Favorite HBO Series

As I was coming up with my list of favorite HBO series I gave some thought to how there has always been a lot of discussion about the impact of THE SOPRANOS and just what an amazing show it is with some people declaring it the best TV show ever. This got me to thinking about how I am not one of those people who hold THE SOPRANOS at such a lofty position. Sure I recognize it’s importance in shaping the landscape of dramatic television but I honestly think that, as a show, THE SOPRANOS really wasn’t that great. To me the show was incredibly average in terms of storytelling but overcame all of that with great casting and acting. I defy anyone to point to one major storyline in the entire run of the show past Season 1 or 2 that was really all that amazing. Instead The SOPRANOS was wonderful at individual scenes featuring great acting performances that are very memorable but not in story arcs that elicit the same fond memories.

Let’s Take A Moment To Appreciate The Greatness Of James Gandolfini

The world lost a great actor last week when James Gandolfini passed away at the age of 51. Many tributes have been done that spent the majority of the time focusing on the groundbreaking performance Gandolfini gave as Tony Soprano on the HBO series THE SOPRANOS. Now I will gladly admit that Gandolfini did some really great work as Tony Soprano but I have fond memories of some of Gandolfini’s non-Tony roles that I would like to show a little appreciation for.

My 5 Unpopular Lost Opinions

LOST was a great show and I loved it. But there were some things about the show that served to temper my love at times and since I recently watched a ton of episodes in a sort of recap marathon, those issues all came to the forefront again. So with that in mind I decided to share my 5 unpopular LOST opinions with the Internet. Take a gander and let me know if you disagree with my opinions.

My 5 Favorite Gender Swapped Characters In Movies & TV

mos-jenny-olsen
With all the hubbub over the apparent gender swapping of Superman’s pal Jimmy Olsen into Jenny Olsen in the upcoming MAN OF STEEL movie (and man are the more emotional geeks having major fits), it got me to thinking about other examples of gender swapping in TV and film that I really enjoyed. Aside from the realization that BATTLESTAR GALACTICA did gender swapping better than any other property, it also became apparent that no one ever gender swaps a female into a male in anything. What’s up with dat?!?!?
So with that being said click away to see my list of favorite gender swapped characters.
