This scene works mostly because of one thing: the scream.
The anguished wail that Jada Pinkett Smith delivers as Maureen succumbs to death’s sweet embrace is gut-wrenching. It’s also pretty wild that this murder takes place in a crowded movie theater and no one notices because of the ROCKY HORROR style movie experience that was taking place at the time.
And making this scene all the better is that it was the inspiration for the absolutely funniest moments from the entire SCARY MOVIE franchise.
