While I am over the moon with excitement for the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie (especially after the clip shown at this year’s San Diego Comicon), I did notice while looking at the team pic that WB released that the League is basically a sausage party with Wonder Woman as the lone female presence on the team. And that is something that really needs to be rectified as quickly as possible which shouldn’t be hard since DC Comics has some really cool women heroes to choose from (as the image above, wonderfully drawn by Peter Nguyen certainly proves).

If you are a comic book reader of a certain age then you have fond memories of the ads for Hostess snacks that used to appear in the comics of the day. Super-heroes would face off against all manner of villains and defeat them by using the sugary goodness of a Twinkie, Ho Ho or fruit pie. All the heroes got in on the act but the most prolific were Batman and Spider-Man. So it was a sad day indeed when I read that Hostess Spidey was going to get deaded as part of this “Spider-Verse” currently crossover running through the Spider-Man books.
Having been given a full series commitment from CBS, the new SUPERGIRL TV show is now moving onto the casting stage with the announcements of the primary cast members that will be featured on the show. Since this is coming from the same folks that have given us the wonderful ARROW and FLASH shows over on The CW, I am very optimistic about the quality of this series even if I am a bit confused about why it is going to air on CBS instead of The CW. So taking the charactercasting sheets that have been released I have decided to do my own bit of wishful casting for the show using only veterans of shows that aired on The CW. Because if there is one thing they love at The CW/CBS it’s recycling actors.
This week brings us giddy comic book fans the long awaited Grant Morrison project for DC, Multiversity…Ed Brubaker’s foray into 1940s Hollywood in his new Image book…and even more secrets revealed from Marvel’s Original Sin event.
Based on DC Comics characters, THE FLASH and CONSTANTINE TV shows are two of the more hotly anticipated shows set to debut this fall. So you can just imagine what a treat it was to the more geek oriented of us when the pilots for both shows leaked. Now I won’t go into detail about what nefarious means I used to get my grubby mitts on these two shows but get them I did and now I shall share my thoughts on them.
I’m back doing this! And on an actual Wednesday no less! Will wonders never cease? Anyhoo, I am going to try and keep this going on a weekly basis by selecting a DC book, a Marvel book and a book from a third publisher of my choice. So with that out of the way let’s get to reviewing some comics!
