I cannot wait for October 17th! As uneven as the first season of American Horror Story was, it was also one of the most satisfyingly creepy shows to ever appear on commercial television. And Jessica Lange was all sorts of amazing as the wacked out neighbor from hell so I am really curious to see what she does with the role of a nun from…well also from hell. Cousin Oliver Syndrome is the well worn TV sitcom trope of introducing a younger character to the cast of a show in it’s later years as a desperate attempt to add life to a show that had grown a bit long in the tooth. This addition can be successful (like with the addition of Olivia to THE COSBY SHOW) or it can be disastrous like the list that I have put together after the jump. This sitcom trope gets it name from the character introduced in the last season of THE BRADY BUNCH. Cousin Oliver was a horrid addition to the show and never contributed anything of value, instead serving to drive a dagger into the heart of a show that was already on life support. Don’t believe me? It has felt like more than just a few months since the last new episodes of Young Justice: Invasion (the best animated super-hero toon since Justice League Unlimited) and Green Lantern: The Animated Series were aired but the two shows will begin airing new eps tomorrow morning as part of the Cartoon Network’s DC Nation block of programming. And its not just these two shows that are coming back; we will also get more new DC shorts which have been just as much fun as the actual full length shows. Joining the returning Super Best Friends Forever, the Aardman Shorts, and Teen Titans Go! will be Batman of Shanghai, Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld and Justice League of Animals.
I guarantee I will be in my PJ’s in front of the TV Saturday morning with a bowl of Apple Jacks just like when I was a little kid.

So we’ve come to the end of the road…and Lafayette is feeling pretty damn fine.
OK, so we are in the penultimate episode of the season with a multitude of storylines and characters that need to be put in place for the climax of all the doings so far yet this episode only runs 52 minutes. What’s up with that? It’s not like there wasn’t a shitload of stuff that could have been squeezed into that extra 8 minutes especially after the show wasted time on the Herveaux family dynamic for some insane reason. Alan Ball is worse at time management than Andy Reid.
With a new Companion (the lovely Jenna-Louise Coleman) set to debut in the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special and the latest season of Doctor Who set to air this September, I thought it would be a good time to take a look at the best and worst of the many people to travel alongside The Doctor in his TARDIS.
Don’t Let The Door Hit Ya Where the Good Lord Split Ya
Finally we are getting some progress from this show when it comes to removing useless characters and Hoyt, who bid Bon Temps farewell this episode, was one of the more useless. And to continue his lame ass existence he couldn’t even leave town like a man instead he had Jessica use her vamp powers to make him forget that he ever loved her and that he ever even knew Jason. I would think removing Jason from his memories would create a lot of unanswered questions since the bulk of Hoyt’s life was spent as Jason Stackhouse’s sidekick. The other positive (besides Hoyt leaving) was that it allowed us to see the softer side of Jason as he really struggled with letting go of his best friend.
Doctor Who returns this fall (with new episodes airing on BBC America on the same day they air in the UK on BBC proper) and I can’t wait.
And the possibility of a dead Amy Pond just makes me want this series to hurry up and start even more.
