The Scream TV Series May End Up Being Awful But I Am Liking MTV’s Marketing For It

MTV’s SCREAM series has a lot of heavy lifting to do to overcome all the things I see as being wrong with it just from reports and the trailer. No Ghostface mask (the killer is wearing a freaking hoodie!), trying to stretch out a slasher film over 10 episodes of weekly television, the overwhelmingly white cast. But all is not lost.

My Favorite Things: Doctor Who

March 26, 2005 saw the relaunch (after a 15 year hiatus) of the fan favorite DOCTOR WHO franchise to TV screens under the creative auspices of QUEER AS FOLK helmer Russell T. Davies. From that debut, New Who has become an even bigger phenomenon than it was in its first iteration on both sides of the pond. So I figured this occasion was as good a time as any to make a list of some of my favorite things from New Who.

My 5 Unpopular Buffy The Vampire Slayer Opinions

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER the TV series premiered 18 years ago this month on the now defunct WB Network. It is hard to believe that it has been almost 20 years since this show debuted and ever harder to believe that its been 12 years since the show ended. Well with the shows anniversary in mind I decided to put together a few of my unpopular opinions about this show that I loved to pieces.

Trailer of the Day: Game of Thrones Season 5

This upcoming season looks to be an extremely violent one even by GAME OF THRONES already brutal standards. But on top of the rampant killing we also are getting the Sand Snakes, Stannis’ taking of the North, Dany making strides to claim the Iron Throne and Tyrion actually meets the friggin’ dragons! April 12th can’t get here soon enough.

Let’s Show Some Love To TV’s Best Sassy Black Women

The Sassy Black Woman is a longtime TV trope that according to the website TV Tropes:

She’s defined by her vivaciousness, humor and joie de vivre, and can make a good counterpoint to the more grim or snarky members of the cast. In complete contrast to her other variation, is not only a pleasure to be around, but is also so the go to girl for advice and help. These characters usually make good leaders, because though generally fun, insightful, they are still firm in decisions, trustworthy, and speak their minds.

It also is a trope that tends to be much maligned when in actuality it has generated some wonderful performances by some wonderful actresses. So click onward to see which lovely ladies made my list.

Disney’s Gargoyles Turned 20 Years Old This Month

This past week was the 20th anniversary of the premiere episode of one of the greatest cartoons to ever be made…GARGOYLES! The premise is wacky (a bunch of gargoyles are cursed to turn to stone and are awakened in modern day New York where they fight the good fight against evil) but the show was just pure perfection in its execution. So sit back, pour yourself a flagon of mead and join me in celebrating the awesomeness of this wonderful show with a list of my 5 favorite episodes from the series.

Trailer of the Day: Parks & Recreation – The Final Season

pandr

From Emmy Award-winning executive producers Greg Daniels (NBC’s “The Office,” “King of the Hill”) and Michael Schur (NBC’s “The Office,” “Saturday Night Live”), “Parks and Recreation” is a hilarious ensemble comedy that follows Leslie Knope (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Amy Poehler, NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” “Baby Mama”), a mid-level bureaucrat in the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee, Indiana, and her tireless efforts to make her quintessentially American town just a little bit more fun. – Source

Wishful Casting The Supergirl TV Show

Having been given a full series commitment from CBS, the new SUPERGIRL TV show is now moving onto the casting stage with the announcements of the primary cast members that will be featured on the show. Since this is coming from the same folks that have given us the wonderful ARROW and FLASH shows over on The CW, I am very optimistic about the quality of this series even if I am a bit confused about why it is going to air on CBS instead of The CW. So taking the character casting sheets that have been released I have decided to do my own bit of wishful casting for the show using only veterans of shows that aired on The CW. Because if there is one thing they love at The CW/CBS it’s recycling actors.
