Ranking The Buffy The Vampire Slayer Boyfriends

It’s the 20th anniversary of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER the TV show and with that in mind I got to thinking about listsicle after listicle I could write like I was a Buzzfeed staffer. And lo and behold, my first list is about the most controversial aspect of Buffy fandom: which of her leading men was the best guy for our Slayer.

The Worst Looking New Fall TV Shows

So I did a “The Best Looking Fall TV Shows” post the other day so it only makes sense that I do a post for which shows look pretty terrible from their trailer/preview clips. Now this doesn’t mean that these show will actually be bad because in previous years a couple of the shows that I thought looked pretty awful ended up securing spots on my weekly DVR list. That doesn’t change the fact that as afar as first impressions go these shows are not putting their best foot forward.

The Best Looking New Fall TV Shows

The fall TV season is almost upon us and as a result the networks are revealing more and more of their line-ups so I figured I would take a gander at some of the trailers being put out for public consumption and see which ones hook me based on their 2 to 5 minutes of video. In the long run I may end up hating all of these shows but for right now these are the best looking shows based on just trailers.

My Name Is Derek And I Am Still A Hate-Watcher

It has been 2 years since the last time I wrote about my hate-watching habit and try as I might I still can’t seem to get this monkey off my back. Sure most of the shows I was hate-watching have mercifully gone to the TV show graveyard in the sky yet other shows have popped up to fill that hole in my soul that only a good hate-watch can satisfy.

The Justice League Movie Needs More Women…ASAP!

While I am over the moon with excitement for the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie (especially after the clip shown at this year’s San Diego Comicon), I did notice while looking at the team pic that WB released that the League is basically a sausage party with Wonder Woman as the lone female presence on the team. And that is something that really needs to be rectified as quickly as possible which shouldn’t be hard since DC Comics has some really cool women heroes to choose from (as the image above, wonderfully drawn by Peter Nguyen certainly proves).

Let’s Take A Moment To Appreciate The Greatness Of Amanda Waller

The SUICIDE SQUAD movie is right around the corner (and I have already bought my tickets!) and even though I have already done a post giving a glimpse into just who the members of The Squad are, the release of an Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) centered trailer got me to thinking about just how great Davis is going to be in the movie. And that got me to thinking about just how great Amanda Waller is as a character.

5 Ways Fox Could Make The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen Reboot Work

Variety is reporting that 20th Century Fox is looking to reboot the LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMAN franchise with a new big screen movie. Based on the Alan Moore property of the same name, the 2003 film focused on literary characters teaming up to stop a villain from conquering the world and starred Sean Connery in what would be his final film role. The movie was not good (to say the least) and totally tanked any hopes Fox had of starting a franchise based on the properties. But with comic book movies and inter-connected cinematic universes being all the rage nowadays, Fox has decided to dig THE LEAGUE out of the mothballs and take another shot at jumpstarting this movie franchise once again. Since I am a fan of the book I figured I would come up with the steps I think would guarantee Fox has more success this go round than they had in 2003.

6 Reasons Why The 2009 Friday The 13th Reboot Sucked

There is a lot not to like about the 2009 FRIDAY THE 13TH reboot, it was awfully written (by a cadre of writers no less) and mundanely directed and had the unmitigated gall to actually have Jason Voorhees running. Running I say!!! Jason doesn’t run; he walks at a brisk pace but that is about it. But those are not even the things that I am most bothered by. So with that in mind I present to the world on this Friday the 13 of May in the year of our Lord 2016 my top 6 reasons for why the FRIDAY THE 13TH Reboot sucked.

My 5 Favorite Things About The Star Wars Holiday Special

Ah, the STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL. It is something that stirs angry feelings of resentment and revulsion in diehard Star Wars fans while to others it is just a reminder of how the TV landscape in the 1970s was a truly kooky time where anyone and everything seemed to be ripe to be given a variety show. And while I certainly do admit that the special was a horror show with some truly terrible parts (like the fact that the Life Day ceremony looked like a Glamour Shots photo), I also have some pretty fond memories of certain things that I actually enjoyed (for any number of reasons from thinking it was unintentionally hilarious to my own innate love of kitsch and camp). And it is with the holiday spirit in mind and a desire to be nice and not naughty that I compiled this little list of the 5 things I love about the STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL.

The 5 Best Moments From The Season 2 Premier Of Z Nation

Z NATION is back and I couldn’t be happier. For a show that started out as something I had no intention of even watching to become one of the most entertaining shows I watch is really saying something. There were times during Season 1 where I would have given the nod to Z NATION over THE WALKING DEAD as far as being a more enjoyable trip through the zombie apocalypse. So I was totally geeked up to see the Season 2 premier (aptly titled “The Murphy”) and the fine folks at Asylum didn’t fail to impress with the over-the-top zombie fuckery.

Who Are The Suicide Squad?

With the release of the teaser for the 2016 Suicide Squad film there has to be a lot of people who thought the 3 minute video was totally cool beans (like me) but had no clue who the hell all of those bizarre looking characters were. So as a full on comic book nerd and longtime Suicide Squad fanboy I figured I would provide a public service to the movie-going masses and give folks the lowdown on who’s who in the Suicide Squad.

4 Awesome Old School Shark Movies (That Are Not Jaws Related)

JAWS may be the granddaddy of shark movies but it isn’t the only one from the 70s-80s to make a mark. For this intrepid blogger there are a handful of shark-themed movies from that same general time frame that made an impression and secured spots in my list of films that I really love. So with that in mind and in commemoration of Shark Week, I figured I’d share with the world some of my fave classic shark infested movies.
