Wishful Casting: The Female Expendables Movie

With the announcement that there will be an all female Expendables-type film made many a movie fan began doing their own wishful casting. Most of the suggestions were along the same lines as the original Expendables casting and seemed to focus on seasoned action starlets like Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hamilton and Pam Grier. A curveball was thrown to aspiring casting directors everywhere when Gina Carano and Katee Sackhoff were announced as the first actresses to be signed for the film. So using those two ladies being selected as my inspiration of where I think this film is going casting-wise I came up with my own list.

Let’s Take A Moment To Appreciate The Greatness Of Sherman Hemsley

George & Weezie Are Reunited In That Deluxe Apartment In The Sky

Sherman “George Jefferson” Hemsley passed away yesterday at 74 and it got me to thinking…this guy was a legit TV star. he starred in two iconic TV shows in ALL IN THE FAMILY and THE JEFFERSONS, he starred in a very successful (if underrated) sitcom in AMEN and he co-starred in one of the best cult TV shows ever DINOSAURS. Add to that his billions of guest star appearances and the guy was everything you would look for in a major TV star. So with that being said I figured I’d take a look at the 5 most awesome things from Sherman’s career.

5 Underrated UK Shows You Should Check Out

LUTHER

If you are a fan of Idris Elba and have wanted to see him in something more like his breakout role as Stringer Bell in the amazing HBO series The Wire (as opposed to playing Nicolas Cage’s sidekick in Ghost Rider or his thankless role in Prometheus) then I suggest you seek out his amazing psychological crime-drama Luther.
Detective Chief Inspector John Luther is an absolute mental mess of a man who has no issues with cutting corners or doing shady things in order to close a case. And the relationship between Luther and suspected murderer Alice Morgan (played remarkably by Ruth Wilson) is one of the most intriguing I have seen on an TV show. Luther and Morgan’s sexually charged game of cat-and-mouse drives most of the first season of the show and would be more than enough to justify watching the show.

My 10 Favorite Movie Strippers

10. Nancy Callahan (Jessica Alba), SIN CITY

Like a lot of the women on this list, Alba was somehow able to pull off being a successful stripper who never got naked. In the real world that would get you immediately fired but in movies it seems to mean you are the most popular lady on the pole.

The 5 Dead ‘True Blood’ Characters I Miss Most

Good riddance to a terrible character

I don’t miss Tommy “The Lord of The Douchebags” Mickens at all. He was a total asshat and quite possibly the most unnecessary character in the history of television. However, there are some True Blood characters that I have a fondness for who were ushered into the afterlife a smidge too soon for my tastes. So click onward fellow TB fans and in preparation of Season 5 see the list of the 5 True Blood characters I miss the most!

Let’s Take A Moment To Appreciate The Greatness Of Mr. T

Mr. T (born Laurence Tureaud) turned the big 6-0 on Monday and in honor of that momentous milestone I figured it would be a good time to look back on some of the things that have served to make Mr. T so awesome.

The Unholy Trinity of Bad Movie Mothers

Mrs Gump gives a genteel and southernly “Bless Their Hearts” to the horrible moms on this list

While most of the world is honoring the best of motherhood on this Mother’s Day, I thought I’d take a different angle and look at the worst examples of mothering to ever be put on film. So put down the sappy Hallmark cards and last minute bouquet of flowers and click through to see the trio of worst movie mothers ever! Happy Mother’s Day!

Let’s Take A Moment To Appreciate The Greatness Of Bruce Campbell

I was reading about the upcoming remake of THE EVIL DEAD that Sam Raimi is directing and Bruce Campbell is co-producing and I got a little wistful. I understand that Hollywood is all about recycling ideas and it was only a matter of time before they got around to doing THE EVIL DEAD.

The Worst First Pitches By Pro Athletes

5. Gary Neville – Soccer player, Manchester United

Gary had two things going against him here…he isn’t used to using his hands to throw and he probably was thinking that rounders is a game for wee lassies.

The Actors With The Worst Post-Oscar Win Careers

Marisa Tomei
Marisa Tomei is laughing heartily because she was able to fix her career before she ended up on this type of a list.

Winning an Oscar is supposed to be the pinnacle of an actor’s career. Once you have been recognized by The Academy your career is supposed to take off and if you play your cards right you will end up having your pick of roles in movies and may even find yourself in a position to win another award. But for some actors winning the Oscar is the beginning of the end. These unfortunate souls either fall off the face of the Earth or become jokes who end up starring in one bad movie after the next. It is with the less fortunate Oscar winners in mind that I threw together this list of people who probably all hate Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks with a blinding jealous rage.
